Group structure
Elango Industries sits at the head of a group built around Tamil Nadu's power sector — from captive gas generation and the steel-industry roots that funded it, through to power trading and solar. Each entity below is promoted by the same family and works with the others rather than in isolation.
Note: Elango Industries also directly commissioned a 63 MW captive coal-based power plant in 2012 and has a 20 MW solar project proposed at Mayiladuthurai — see the Projects page for the full generation picture alongside these group companies.
Gas-based generation
Promoted jointly by Elango Industries and family members. KGPL runs a gas-based captive power plant in Tamil Nadu, built around a Rolls-Royce (Norway) gas engine, currently generating 7 MW with a further 3 MW under addition. The project has been funded by SBI and its subsidiaries.
Power is wheeled through the TNEB grid to captive industrial consumers — among them Madura Coats, Ramalinga Mills, Jai Bharath Mills, Agni Steels, and Sree Kaderi Ambal Mills — who together hold 31% of KGPL's equity.
