Gas, coal and solar capacity built over two decades

Since entering the power sector in 2005, the group has commissioned two captive power plants in Tamil Nadu and is now developing a third, solar, project.

Gas-based power plant, Mayiladuthurai

The group's first power project, commissioned in 2005 under Kaveri Gas Power Ltd. Built around a Rolls-Royce (Norway) gas engine, the plant wheeled power through the TNEB grid to a group of captive industrial off-takers. Generation is currently stopped.

Captive coal-based power plant

A larger captive coal-based plant commissioned in 2012, expanding the group's generation base beyond the original gas plant. Since 2005 the group has been predominantly focused on power generation and distribution. Generation is currently stopped.

Solar power project, Mayiladuthurai

As part of its diversification into renewable generation, the company has identified a site at Mayiladuthurai, Tamil Nadu for a proposed solar power project. The location offers existing power evacuation infrastructure, and discussions with the relevant government authorities for clearances are underway.
